ICJS Mini-Courses
The Institute for Christian & Jewish Studies added
a new programming initiative in 1998: mini-courses developed and taught by Dr. Rosann Catalano, ICJS Roman Catholic Scholar; Rabbi Charles Arian, former ICJS Jewish Scholar; Rabbi Joel H. Zaiman, Jewish Scholar and Consultant; Dr. Christopher Leighton, ICJS Executive Director; and Janis L. Koch, ICJS Associate Scholar. The courses are a direct response to growing requests for additional opportunities for study by those who attend ICJS public programs.

An introduction to the first century of the Common Era: the formative period in which both Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism have their origins. This course was co-taught by Dr. Rosann Catalano and Rabbi David Fox Sandmel.

  • Spring 1999 Mini-Course: "Innocence Lost: Reflections on God, Noah, Job, and Jesus." A course focusing on three "defining moments" of biblical encounter with God that shed light on our own struggles with the mystery of human suffering. This course was taught by Dr. Rosann Catalano.
