We are pleased to announce that the ICJS will once again conduct its annual Congregational Project begin-ning on the evening of Wednesday, May 4, from 7 - 9 p.m. The Bolton Street Congregation has generously agreed to host this program.
This year's program continues our effort to create a forum in which Jewish and Christian leaders explore the challenges facing our religious traditions and society at large. This year we will convene to examine the meaning of leadership as practiced in Judaism and Christianity and to discover the relevance of our respective traditions in the ordering of a democratic society. The curriculum will include the study of relevant Jewish and Christian sacred texts so that participants can recognize and critically assess a range of leadership models within our religious traditions. We will then examine how our distinct tra-ditions help us contend with questions about the allocation of time and money, the exercise of authority and power, and the adjudication of conflict.
The Congregational Project will take place on Wednes-days, May 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Bolton Street Synagogue, 212 West Cold Spring Lane. Ample parking is available.
In keeping with the format of previous years, we will orchestrate our sessions as Town Meetings. We will be-gin and conclude each session in plenary, but the heart of the program will take place in small group discussions. The same groups will meet for all four sessions, enabling individual participants to develop closer relationships with one another. As in past years, the ICJS will con-figure the groups to take full advantage of the diversity of the participants.
To help the ICJS defray some of our expenses, we are asking each participant to contribute $20. We do not want the expense to hinder anyone's participation, and we have scholarship money to defray some expenses.
We hope that you recognize the special import of this year's program, and we look forward to seeing you in the near future.
