Food and Faith
The Baltimore Food and Faith Project is building a dynamic network of faith communities, religious schools, and faith-based organizations to consider the moral and religious implications of the ways that our society produces and distributes food. In particular, the Project addresses issues of environmental stewardship, hunger and community food security, social and economic justice, health and nutrition, and farm animal welfare.
Hosted by the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future, Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Baltimore Food and Faith Project of the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future is an interfaith program that reaches out to several diverse networks (faith communities, religious schools, and faith-based organizations of all traditions) to bring awareness about and create positive change in our food system. By holding interfaith workshops and presenting an annual summer film series, publishing a newsletter, making grants available for faith-community and religious-school gardens, developing resources, and speaking at events and congregations, the Baltimore Food and Faith Project equips the community with knowledge and tools to move towards a more sustainable, healthy, and equitable food system.
