In A Word Volume 8, Issue 1, Spring 2007 April 18, 2007 Disarming Texts: Jews and Christians Reflect on How Their Minds Have Been Changed -- An Evening With Walter Brueggemann and Peter Ochs Dr. Walter Brueggemann is Professor Emeritus of Old Testa-ment at Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia. He holds a Ph.D. from Union Seminary, New York, and a Ph.D. from St. Louis University. Through his teaching, lecturing, and writing, Brueggemann has effectively demonstrated the signifi-cance of the Old Testament for our fractured world today. Recognized as the preeminent interpreter of the ancient texts in relation to questions posed by a variety of academic disciplines, he has shown the way toward a compelling under-standing of the major components of the faith and life of ancient Israel. Dr. Peter Ochs is the Edgar Bronfman Professor of Modern Judaic Studies at the University of Virginia. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and an M.A. from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Dr. Ochs explores modern Jewish philosophy and theology, the history of Jewish thought and Jewish ethics, and the philosophy of religion.
