The Institute Volume 14, Autumn 2004 The ICJS Congregational Project was held on four Tuesday evenings in April and May. Rabbi Steven Fink and the congre-gation of Temple Oheb Shalom graciously hosted the program. Discussion focused on the central narratives of Christianity (Crucifixion and Resurrection) and Judaism (Exodus and the Passover Seder). Through study of these stories the group explored the distinctive character of each and identified how these sacred texts bring people together or set them apart. ICJS scholars Dr. Christopher Leighton, Dr. Rosann Catalano, and Rabbi Charles Arian led the group of 100 attendees in plenary and small group discussions. Text study included Deuteronomy 26, Exodus 13:1-16, Hebrews 9:11-15 and 15-16, Avot D'Rabbi Natan 4:5, and excerpts from the Passover Haggadah. All sessions were well attended and the sessions were thought-provoking and lively. One participant later com-mented that the central narratives of Christianity and Judaism are so important to our mutual understanding that they should become a basic component of ICJS curriculum and be pre-sented annually.
